About Wendy McMahon

Wendy McMahon is the president and co-chief executive officer of CBS News, CBS Television Stations and CBS News Digital. She took up her new post in May 2021.

Wendy Is An Experienced, Award-Winning Televisions Stations Executive: Wendy has a record of success in driving ratings and revenue and creating industry-leading content, products and editorial. An innovator of next-gen storytelling and champion of community-focused content, she is known for her deep expertise in creative, marketing and digital, pioneering the use of data and technology to deepen audience engagement and drive operational modernisation.

Wendy Has Served As President of the ABC Owned Television Stations Group: Wendy has direct responsibility for The Walt Disney Company's eight television stations, local newsrooms and streaming assets, and oversight of the 1,500 team members who collectively led local television news for the 12th consecutive year in 2020. Under her leadership, the group achieved the largest competitive advantage for local television news in a decade and achieved national leadership in digital reach and streaming minutes consumed in its markets.

During her tenure at ABC Owned Television Stations Group, she oversaw the creation of a Race and Culture team and the multicultural series Our America.

Wendy Was Senior Vice President of ABC Digital: She developed a cross-platform future for the group and was responsible for leading strategies and initiatives in digital content, product and technology, and audience development. She led the transition to streaming and launched the group's first networked TV apps. She also launched the Localish digital brand and created the first data journalism department that conducted exclusive research for the entire network and stations.

Wendy Served As Vice President of Marketing in Los Angeles: She was vice president at KABC and head of creative at CBS-owned stations WBZ in Boston and WCCO in Minneapolis. She began her career as a promotions manager at WTOC in Savannah, Georgia.

Wendy Graduated from Louisiana State University: She received her bachelor's degree in mass communications and broadcast journalism, summa cum laude. In 2019, she was named Young Alumna of the Year by her alma mater and Digital Leader of the Year by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). She is married to William Burton and they are proud parents of a 9-year-old son.
